Get ready for a game-changer in the world of electric vehicle charging! Wallbox has just unveiled the Supernova PowerRing, a revolutionary fast-charging system that’s about to shake up the industry. But here’s the kicker: it delivers an incredible 400 kW per outlet, making it a true powerhouse!
The PowerRing is a modular masterpiece, linking multiple Supernova chargers into a dynamic network. Each setup can accommodate up to three Supernova units and six charging points, offering installed capacities of 240, 480, or 720 kW. This flexibility allows operators to tailor installations to specific site needs and easily expand as demand grows.
In its initial phase, the PowerRing introduces a clever power-sharing feature between units. This means that any unused capacity is automatically allocated to active charging sessions, ensuring high availability and efficient power management during peak usage. Wallbox believes this approach will streamline installations and keep drivers happy.
But here’s where it gets even more exciting: future development phases will enable simultaneous power sharing between connectors and site-level energy distribution. These enhancements will further optimize utilization and enhance the overall driver experience. Imagine being able to charge your EV quickly and efficiently, no matter the location or time of day!
Wallbox plans to roll out the Supernova PowerRing in phases, starting early 2026 in Southern Europe, Benelux, and the UK and Ireland. The company aims to expand to other markets, including the United States, soon after. With its compact design and scalable layout, the PowerRing is suitable for various environments, from retail areas to commercial parking sites.
Eduard CastaƱeda, Chief Product & Technology Officer at Wallbox, emphasizes the need for charging systems that are economically viable now and future-proof. “Supernova PowerRing was designed with this in mind, offering flexibility, performance, and reliability in a remarkably compact package,” he says. CastaƱeda adds, “It redefines how charging infrastructure can scale efficiently, allowing operators to serve more drivers with less space, cost, and complexity, while maintaining fast charging speeds and an excellent user experience.”
So, what do you think? Is the Supernova PowerRing the future of EV charging? Will it revolutionize the industry and make electric vehicles even more accessible and convenient? Let’s discuss in the comments and share our thoughts on this exciting development!
